Earnings

Our standard feeds use a performance-based cost-per-click (CPC) model. You earn money from valid job-seeker clicks. The amount varies by job and how your traffic performs.

Performance-based CPC

Talroo's algorithm sets click payments based on the job and how often your traffic leads to applications or other conversions. Rates can change as performance changes. Your Quality Score affects both rates and the jobs available to you.

We pay the price returned in the API or XML feed when the click passes validation and is neither stale nor expired.

A minimum CPC setting filters which jobs enter your feed. It does not guarantee that every click earns that amount. Invalid clicks earn nothing; expired jobs and old click URLs can pay less.

Some existing publishers have legacy Flat Fee arrangements with a fixed payment per click. Their feeds exclude jobs that pay less than that rate.

CPA for Talroo Apply

We also offer a cost-per-application (CPA) option for XML feeds with jobs whose applications are hosted through Talroo Apply. CPA pays for applications rather than clicks.

Email publishers@talroo.com to discuss availability and setup. XML feeds require approval.

Click validation

A click must come from a real U.S. job seeker who is interested in the job and could reasonably apply for it. The title, location, and placement must give them an honest reason to click.

Clicks do not qualify for payment when they come from:

  • Bots, scripts, or other automated traffic.
  • Repeated clicks without a new intent to apply.
  • People outside the United States.
  • Rewards for clicking, misleading placements, or people who could not realistically apply for the jobs shown.

Traffic reviews and fraud checks can also identify clicks that do not qualify. Publishers must follow the job seeker protection standards, including rules on data sharing, messaging, and stop requests.

Expired and stale clicks

Expired clicks

A job is expired when it stops accepting traffic at full value, usually because its budget ran out or it was paused, removed, or outside its schedule. These clicks can pay less.

Talroo may replace the job with a similar active one. The replacement may pay a different amount, including less than your requested minimum. With performance-based CPC, you can add the rdr parameter to send the person back to your site instead. Clicks redirected this way do not earn money.

Stale clicks

A stale click uses a URL whose pricing window has ended. The job may still be active, but the old price no longer applies. Depending on the integration and expiration settings, an old URL can pay less or nothing.

The default pricing window for CPC feeds is 24 hours. For XML, the clock starts when Talroo generates the feed, not when you import it. Check Click Expiration in your feed settings for your feed's window.

Keep job links current

For XML, download at least daily and match the generation schedule in TAP when possible. Replace click URLs on every import, even if the job ID is unchanged. Remove jobs no longer in the feed. See the XML refresh instructions.

For the Search API, request fresh results rather than keeping old listings and click URLs. Email and other delayed channels need particular care because someone may open a link long after you sent it.

Widgets and affiliate links use Talroo's live system, which handles freshness for you.

Quality Score

Quality Score compares how often your visitors apply and take other conversion actions with similar traffic on the network. A score of 0% is the baseline. Positive scores are above it; negative scores are below it.

You can find the score in TAP's Earnings Report, feed list, and feed details. A low score can reduce click payments and available jobs. If it stays low, especially with little traffic, Talroo may suspend the account.

Low Quality Score

Stop sending traffic from the worst-performing sources and check for bots, especially if the score drops below -50%. Then check the job seeker's experience:

  • Do the jobs match your audience's location and qualifications?
  • Do the title and description match what your page promised?
  • Can someone find the application and complete the next step?

If several sources share a feed, separate them so you can see which needs attention. A returning audience, including newsletter readers, can help over time. Give changes time to show results; do not expect the score to recover in a day.

Use the Earnings Report to review clicks and payments. Average earnings per click (EPC) is total earnings divided by total clicks, including expired and stale clicks. For payment dates, the minimum balance, and transfer fees, see Payments.
