Publisher FAQ

The Publisher Program is for sending job seekers to jobs hosted by Talroo.

Joining and account access

What do I need to qualify?

An established business with at least six months of verifiable traffic history and a 100% U.S. job-seeker audience. The history can cover your website, mobile app, or other channels. Talroo has no non-U.S. jobs. New or unlaunched businesses are not eligible.

We also review job-seeker intent, your targeting technology, your ability to run the integration, your business reputation, and how you handle job seeker data and messages. See the application requirements.

Does my jobs section need its own six months of history?

No. We can consider your whole business's history, including traffic from a website, mobile app, or other channels. A new jobs section can qualify if your business already has at least six months of verifiable traffic history and Talroo jobs fit your audience. New or unlaunched businesses are not eligible.

Is there a minimum traffic volume?

Yes. We'll review traffic volume for API and XML feeds alongside audience fit, the quality of your website, app, or other channels, and business history. The expected traffic and earnings need to justify onboarding and ongoing support. Meeting the business-history requirement alone does not guarantee acceptance.

Can a company outside the U.S. join?

Yes, if it serves U.S. job seekers and meets the other publisher requirements.

Can I send visitors from paid social ads or my email list?

Paid social ads are allowed if the wording is direct and not misleading.

Email referrals are allowed, but an email list alone won't qualify. We need to see that readers are looking for work and that your software can match them with jobs based on their location and interests. Only email people who agreed to receive job emails, and stop emailing them if they unsubscribe or ask you to stop.

What if the application form or signing link doesn't work?

Email publishers@talroo.com with your business name, the email address used to apply, and what went wrong.

Why am I still receiving signing reminders?

Reminders can continue after you sign because Talroo also needs to sign. If you submitted the application form more than once, you may have signed one document while another is still unsigned. The reminders will eventually stop.

What if my dashboard invitation or password reset doesn't work?

Your account's Publisher Admin can resend an invitation from the Users page in TAP. If you still cannot sign in, email publishers@talroo.com with the email address used for your account. See Managing Users.

Earnings and payments

How are click payments set?

Our standard feeds use a performance-based cost-per-click (CPC) model. Talroo's algorithm sets what you earn for each valid click based on the job and how often your traffic leads to applications or other conversions. Rates vary between jobs and change with performance.

Some legacy publishers have fixed CPC arrangements. See Earnings.

Why can I earn less than the listed price or my minimum CPC?

We pay the API or XML price when a CPC click passes validation and is neither stale nor expired. Expired jobs, replacement jobs, and old links can pay less than that price or your minimum CPC. Invalid clicks aren't paid.

Why do some clicks earn nothing?

Bots, duplicate actions, rewards for clicking, misleading placements, and clicks from outside the U.S. do not qualify for payment. Old click URLs can also earn less or nothing. A click also needs to come from someone who could reasonably apply for the job shown. See which clicks count.

When and how will I be paid?

We pay each month's earnings about 37 days after that month ends, usually by ACH. April earnings are paid in early June.

Balances under $10 carry over to the next month.

Wire transfers cost $50 each. We don't pay in crypto.

Jobs and feed freshness

What is the difference between a stale click and an expired click?

An expired click is for a job that ran out of budget, was paused, or was removed.

A stale click uses an old link. The job may still be active, but its original price has expired. For CPC feeds, the default window is 24 hours.

For XML, the clock starts when Talroo generates the feed, not when you import it. Check Click Expiration in TAP for your feed's window.

How often should I refresh XML, and should I replace unchanged jobs' URLs?

Download at least daily and match the feed-generation schedule shown in TAP when possible. Replace click URLs with those from the latest feed on every import, even when the job ID is unchanged. Remove jobs that are no longer in the feed. Keeping the same job ID does not extend an old URL's pricing window.

See the XML refresh instructions.

Where does someone go when a job expires?

Talroo may replace it with a similar active job. For feeds using performance-based CPC, your developer can add the rdr parameter to the click URL to send the person back to your site instead. See the redirect guide.

Why has my job count dropped, or why does a search return no jobs?

Available jobs change with advertiser budgets, schedules, and traffic performance. Your search location, query, CPC settings, filters, and advertiser exclusions can also reduce results.

Check the affected feed in Analytics and review Feed Configuration. A new feed's job availability can change as Talroo learns how its traffic performs; follow the launch checklist before increasing traffic.

What does Quality Score mean?

It compares your traffic's conversion performance with the baseline for similar campaigns. A score of 0% is the baseline; positive scores are above it and negative scores are below it. The score affects click payments and which jobs are available. See Quality Score.

Setup and security

Which integrations are available to me?

We create Search API access and an affiliate link by default. If you need a widget or have enough traffic for an XML feed, email publishers@talroo.com.

The setup guides cover each integration.

Can I filter jobs by location, category, company, or application type?

Check your feed in TAP for category, company, advertiser, state, job-board, and Talroo Apply filters. See Feed Configuration.

Search API parameters have their own behavior: some rank results rather than excluding jobs. Check the Search API reference before treating a parameter as a strict filter.

Why does a job link go to another job board or a Talroo page?

Job links can lead to other job boards, Jobs2Careers, or applications hosted by Talroo. Some lead directly to the advertiser's website. We don't change a job's destination for individual publishers. See what job seekers see.

What is pid, and what should I send?

pid lets Talroo recognize the same job seeker on later searches and personalize their results. Your system should give each person a separate ID and reuse it when they return.

Don't use names, email addresses, or other personal information. IDs made from email addresses are not allowed either. Your developer can use the PID guide to set this up for the Search API.

Which password should my integration use, and can I put it in browser JavaScript?

Use the feed/API id and pass from Feed Configuration, not your dashboard sign-in password. Keep integration passwords and credential-bearing URLs on your server. Do not expose them in browser JavaScript or public repositories. See API setup.

How many API results can I request, and how do I get the next page?

Use limit for the page size, up to 200, and start for the zero-based offset. For pages of 10 results, request start=0, then start=10, then start=20. A response may contain fewer jobs than requested. See the Search API reference.

Reporting and postbacks

Can I download click-level data or retrieve reports through an API?

Use the download icon in TAP's Earnings Report for click-level data. The download does not include exact earnings for each click.

For CPC feeds, we pay the price returned in the API or XML feed when a click passes validation and is neither stale nor expired.

To retrieve reports through the Platform API, ask the publisher team to enable access. Your developer will need the OAuth setup instructions. Search API credentials don't work for reporting.

How do I track my campaigns and receive conversion postbacks?

Use tracking tags (t1, t2, and t3) for campaigns or placements. The source website's domain is recorded automatically. Use referrer only if you want to change or standardize that value.

For conversion postbacks, send the publisher team your endpoint URL, request method (GET or POST), the fields you want, and the parameter name for your click ID. We'll confirm which fields Talroo can send and what the parameters will be called.

What do conv, conv2, and conv3 mean?

These columns record when a conversion occurred. The event recorded in each column can vary by job.

For optimization, count a click once when at least one of conv, conv2, or conv3 contains a timestamp.
